Monachil, sierra nevada

I was visiting Granada in the end of summer and had a chance to enjoy some hiking trails in the Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada. One of the captivating hiking trails within this national park is the Circular de Los Cahorros de Monachil.

This circular route takes hikers on an exhilarating journey through the picturesque Monachil Valley, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and adventure.

The trail begins in the charming village of Monachil, located just a short drive from the city of Granada.

You are greeted by the refreshing sound of the Monachil River, which accompanies along a significant portion of the hike.

The path meanders through narrow gorges, rugged terrain, and lush vegetation, providing a sense of immersion in the pristine wilderness of Sierra Nevada.

One of the highlights of the Circular de Los Cahorros de Monachil is the suspension bridges that span across the river, adding an element of excitement and offering spectacular views of the surrounding cliffs and rock formations.

The route takes through the iconic Los Cahorros, a series of narrow canyons and rocky passages that add a touch of challenge to the adventure.

The Circular de Los Cahorros de Monachil is suitable for hikers of various skill levels, with options to customize the route based on preferences and fitness levels.

The entire loop typically takes several hours to complete, don t forget to take plenty of water with you.
